snipping at blackberry vines
on my side of the neighbor's fence
growing up amongst daisies,
columbine and large clover heads
its vicious, twisting arch
to dominate and yet give back
   juicy plump fruits
unlike the polite daisies, pretty
in their clumps and rows who give
nothing but their own beauty back
still, the blackberries must go
for if they do not go they will,
as they give, relentlessly take
   all they are able to take
without heed to any but their own
